Closing my Utility Warehouse chapter

Today marks the end of my Utility Warehouse chapter.

Together over the last two years, we’ve made an impact I’m really proud of. Here are a few of my highlights:

Spark Speaks: This was an internal leadership speaker series to give senior leaders a platform to showcase their work, tell their stories, and build their public speaking capability. It was open to anyone who wanted to listen, and I had the privilege of building, coaching, and hosting three seasons with hundreds of people joining every session.

My “secret mission” with this? To create a space of authenticity where all kinds of different leaders could show up just as they are. My favourite part was getting to coach the speakers, partnering with them to refine their storytelling, getting to the heart of what they wanted to share, and finding the confidence to stand up and be the best version of themselves. Each person wanted to grow in a different way, and the ones who really leant in grew in such beautiful ways. Whether it was conquering nerves, reaching new audiences, or sharing the growth with their families, thank you to all of you: speakers, viewers, and the team alike!

Spark Coaching Accreditation: Our internal coach training programme. This was eight months of learning (alongside day jobs!) through workshops and plenty of practice. The goal was to build our internal coach pool, but also to help people apply these skills to how they lead. We built a programme I’m so proud of. It wasn’t just for the content, but for the beautiful space we created where the group supported and challenged each other. They became great listeners, able to hold space for others and hold back the advice so their teams could find the best answers. I’ve long believed everyone should learn to coach; it makes us better leaders and better humans!

Partnering with Tech and Product: Working with the senior leaders in these functions to build a bridge of trust and engagement was a joy. This group has seen so much change in the last two years, and I’m so grateful you trusted me and engaged with the work. Being a technologist at heart, I loved blending that grounding with my passion for leadership development to do my best for you.

Finally, for the people I got to do all of the above with, I’ve loved being in this with you, learning from and with you all.

Looking at this list, I realise it’s the internal shifts in people, the kind that have a transformational impact, that have meant the most to me. It’s about the spaces you create for people to learn, challenge themselves, and show up for each other. It’s a privilege to see someone unlock something in themselves they might not even have known existed.

But I wasn’t just a witness to this growth; it was happening for me, too. I approached this role with a very different mindset than I’d ever had before. These two years gave me the time to really integrate this work into who and how I am. I showed up with a grounded internal confidence (most of the time!), standing up (not always calmly!) for what really matters, and bringing a clear purpose and fierce compassion to my work. I was able to be me, just as I am.

It’s been a blast, and I’m looking forward to whatever comes next…
